Summer Hair Extensions Tip: Choose Your Sunscreen Wisely

Every summer there are random instances of hair extensions all of the sudden turning peach or orange. We have always advised to be cautious wearing your hair down with bronzers or spray tans on your skin, especially for blondes.

Thanks to social media we now know what is in some sunscreens that causes this to happen!  We don’t want this to happen to you, so below we have links to shop for extension friendly sunscreens.

Someone has finally identified the ingredient that causes this extension nightmare within many sunscreens commonly sold in stores.

Ingredients to Avoid:

Avobenzone, or Oxybenzone

We know how tricky ingredients are on things, so these ingredients to avoid are also known as:

  • Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane, or
  • Parsol 1789
  • Octyl Methoxycinnamate
  • Octyl Salicylate
  • Benzophenone

Safe Active Ingredients:

Zinc, Zinc Oxide, Mineral Sunscreen

To avoid your extensions from changing colors, it’s as simple as this:  please buy one of these extension safe sunscreens to avoid having to replace a set of hair unexpectedly.
